Eastern Regional Police Arrest Two in Violent Motorbike Snatching at Sibakon Down Near Comet Estate

The Eastern Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has successfully arrested two suspects linked to a violent robbery and motorbike snatching incident that occurred at Sibakon Down near Comet Estate, following weeks of intensive, intelligence-led investigations.

The incident took place in late January 2026, when two armed men on a motorbike attacked a victim riding a motorcycle. The assailants allegedly used a locally manufactured pistol and a stone to assault the rider, demanding valuables. They snatched the victim’s mobile phone—specifically an iPhone 13 Pro—before fleeing. The victim raised an alarm, attracting nearby residents who intervened aggressively. One of the suspects was reportedly lynched by the mob during the confrontation, while the prime suspect escaped with the stolen device.

After nearly a month of pursuit, police tracked and arrested the main suspect, Kwabla Egblorgbe Gadoglo Mohammed, also known as “Moha,” aged 31, at his hideout in Afienya on February 13, 2026. A subsequent search of his residence in Abokobi yielded several items suspected to be connected to criminal activities, including a cutter, two pairs of scissors, two hammers, a hacksaw, a cutlass, a jack knife, a saw, and three mobile phones.

Further probes led investigators to the second suspect, Kwame Accolor, alias “Small Kidi,” aged 37, who was apprehended in Anyako in the Volta Region. Authorities allege that Accolor purchased the stolen iPhone 13 Pro from Mohammed for GH¢800.

The arrests highlight the effectiveness of sustained police efforts in tackling robbery cases involving motorcycles and mobile phones, which have been a growing concern in parts of the Greater Accra and Eastern regions. Police have recovered key evidence, and investigations continue to establish full details of the operation, including any additional accomplices or related crimes.

The suspects are in custody and expected to be processed for court appearance. The Ghana Police Service has commended the public’s role in raising the initial alarm and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
