Torgbe Agbeti Dordoe, a 43-year-old Revenue Officer with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Customs Division stationed at Kotoka International Airport (KIA), appeared before the Adenta Circuit Court on October 7, 2025, charged with extortion for allegedly demanding GH¢2,000 from a businessman without issuing a receipt.
Dordoe pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of GH¢10,000 with one surety by Judge Angela Attachie. The case is adjourned to January 21, 2026.
The incident dates back to November 28, 2024, when the complainant, a businessman from Airport West, Accra, arrived from Dubai with two Bose musical instruments. Dordoe assessed duties at GH¢21,000, which the complainant paid and received a receipt for.
Upon reminding Dordoe of prior payment for the same items, he allegedly demanded an extra GH¢2,000 in cash without a receipt, ignoring requests for system verification.
The complainant reported the matter to Airport Police Station, prompting invitations for Dordoe to report on February 17, 2025, which he delayed.441412c648dfbf783c Follow-up letters to GRA’s KIA and headquarters on February 20 and April 4 went unanswered, leading to a criminal summons on April 28 and his arrest on May 12.
Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo led the prosecution.
This case highlights ongoing concerns over corruption at KIA, echoing a 2025 petition by another businessman alleging Dordoe extorted GH¢3,000 and humiliated him publicly, demanding investigation and refunds.
