Cocoa Farmer Hospitalised After Self-Harm Incident in Bono East

A 42-year-old cocoa farmer, Kofi Assum, is currently receiving treatment at the after reportedly inflicting severe injuries on himself in an alleged suicide attempt at Aworowa in the Techiman South Municipality of the Bono East Region.
According to family members, the incident may be linked to underlying mental health challenges. They revealed that Mr Assum had been complaining of hearing persistent voices urging him to harm himself prior to the incident.
The development has raised concerns about mental health awareness and access to care in rural communities, where individuals often struggle to receive timely psychological support.
Medical personnel are currently attending to him, while the situation continues to draw attention to the importance of early intervention and support for persons experiencing mental health difficulties.
