Central Regional Minister Warns MMDCEs Against Managing Projects Through Phone Calls

The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, has issued a stern warning to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region, urging them to stop managing government projects solely through phone calls from their offices.

According to the Minister, active supervision and regular site visits are essential to ensuring the successful execution of development projects.

Hon. Eduamoah made the remarks during a working visit to the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District to inspect the ongoing 24-hour economy market project.

He stressed that passive management of projects would not be tolerated and warned that MMDCEs who fail to undertake regular field inspections could face serious consequences.

The Regional Minister explained that when local authorities demonstrate commitment by maintaining a visible presence at project sites, it strengthens their case for receiving additional support from the central government.

He further noted that the purpose of the visit was to assess the progress of the 24-hour economy market project and identify operational challenges that could affect its implementation across the region.

According to him, on-the-ground monitoring remains crucial to ensuring that government projects achieve their intended objectives and deliver benefits to residents.

The District Chief Executive for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Isaac Yawson, assured the Regional Minister of his commitment to implementing all government-backed initiatives in the district.

Hon. Yawson pledged to give the 24-hour economy market project his utmost attention and promised to personally monitor the work of contractors on-site rather than directing activities from his office.

He expressed confidence that the project would be completed to the required standard and within the stipulated timeframe.
