Boakye Agyarko Congratulates John Boadu, Calls for NPP Unity Ahead of 2028

New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Boakye Agyarko has congratulated John Boadu on his election as the party’s National Chairman, calling on members to put the internal contest behind them and unite for the 2028 elections.
Mr Agyarko, who contested Mr Boadu for the National Chairmanship position, said the outcome of the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi should mark the beginning of a new phase of unity and consolidation within the party.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 4, he congratulated Mr Boadu and the other newly elected national executives, saying their election came with a responsibility to serve the party.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mr. John Boadu on his election as the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party. The delegates have reposed their trust and mandate in him to steer the affairs of our party, and I wish him wisdom, strength, and great success in this pivotal responsibility,” he said.
Mr Agyarko also expressed appreciation to his campaign team, constituency executives and delegates who supported his bid for the chairmanship.
He said their loyalty and commitment to his campaign remained deeply appreciated despite the outcome of the election.
“Your loyalty, passion, and sacrifices for our party will never be in vain. You conducted this campaign with dignity, vigour, and unyielding love for our party, and for that, you have my highest respect,” he stated.
‘The NPP has emerged victorious’
Mr Agyarko stressed that the internal contest should not create lasting divisions within the party, describing the election as a family affair.
“Internal contests in our party are not battles between adversaries; they are family contests among brothers and sisters committed to the same sacred cause,” he said.
He urged party members to close ranks and focus on the task ahead rather than allow the outcome of the election to deepen internal divisions.
“Today, there are no individuals victors or vanquished – it is the New Patriotic Party that has emerged victorious,” he added.
Mr Agyarko pledged his support to the newly elected National Chairman, the incoming National Executive Committee and the party’s Flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“I stand fully and resolutely ready to support Chairman John Boadu, the entire newly elected National Executive Committee, and our Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he said.
According to him, victory in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections must remain the NPP’s overriding objective, and he pledged to work with the party leadership and grassroots across the country towards that goal.
“Our supreme, non-negotiable objective remains the total, decisive victory of the New Patriotic Party in the 2028 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections,” Mr Agyarko said.
He also commended the NPP National Elections Committee, the Electoral Commission and the security services for what he described as a smooth, transparent and peaceful election.
Mr Agyarko urged members to move forward as one, stressing that the party’s ability to return to government would depend, in part, on its capacity to maintain unity following the internal elections.
