Bawumia Calls for NPP Unity Ahead of 2028 Election

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has called on all factions that emerged during the party’s internal elections to dissolve and unite under a single NPP camp ahead of the 2028 general election.

Speaking after the swearing-in of the party’s newly elected national executives on October 4, Dr Bawumia said the internal elections were now over and the party’s attention must shift to rebuilding its structures and preparing for the next national election.

“Elections are over. All the camps will dissolve, and let us have one NPP camp and go and win 2028,” he said.

Dr Bawumia stressed that unity would be essential to the NPP’s efforts to return to power, urging members and supporters to put their differences aside and work towards a common objective.

“Let us all understand that winning 2028 is about unity. Unity in this party will give us victory. Let us come together to work,” he said.

‘The NPP won’

The NPP Flagbearer also encouraged candidates who lost in the national executive elections not to consider themselves defeated, saying their participation would remain important to the party’s campaign ahead of 2028.

“You did not lose. The NPP won,” Dr Bawumia said.

He indicated that all candidates who contested the elections would have a role to play as the party prepares for the 2028 general election.

According to him, the newly elected national executives have received a clear mandate from delegates to work towards returning the NPP to government, and there was little time to waste.

“There is no time to waste. Day one, this week, by the grace of God, we should all meet and begin the process of getting to the 2028 election,” he said.

Dr Bawumia further urged the party to intensify its efforts, saying the NPP would have to work harder than it did in previous elections if it is to achieve its 2028 objective.

“We must work harder. And let us all start this week by meeting and putting our strategies together to capture power in 2028,” he said.
