Barcelona Plans Camp Nou Roof Installation, Temporary Relocation Expected

FC Barcelona is reportedly planning to begin installing a roof at the iconic Camp Nou in 2027, according to sources close to the club’s management.
The project, which forms part of the ongoing stadium redevelopment, is expected to take several months and will temporarily render the stadium unfit for matches during that period.
As a result, Barcelona is considering alternative venues for the first half of the 2027/2028 season. One of the primary options is the Barça Atlètic stadium, while the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys—currently used by the club—remains another viable alternative.
The plan is for the team to return to a fully completed Camp Nou by January 2028 at the latest, marking a major milestone in the club’s long-term infrastructure upgrade.
If confirmed, the temporary relocation would be another significant adjustment for the club and its supporters, who have already experienced changes due to the ongoing renovation works.
