Bagbin Warns MPs Involved in Galamsey to Shape Up or Face Consequences

Speaker of Parliament Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin has issued a stern warning to Members of Parliament involved in illegal mining, also known as galamsey.

In a statement on the floor of the House, Bagbin urged MPs to put an end to their involvement in the canker, emphasizing the need for lawmakers to lead by example and show leadership to their constituents.

He cautioned that the House will take action against any member found to be involved in galamsey, and called on MPs to disclose the identities of any colleagues engaged in the illegal activity.

Bagbin reminded MPs of their mandate to contribute to the development of the nation, and encouraged them to make the most of their time in Parliament. With 114 new members and a high attrition rate, he emphasized that this may be their last opportunity to make a positive impact.
