At least 13 people are feared dead following a serious three-vehicle collision at Odumase, near Konongo, on the Kumasi-Accra Highway in the Ashanti Region.

Konongo, Ashanti Region, Ghana – At least 13 people are feared dead following a serious three-vehicle collision at Odumase, near Konongo, on the Kumasi-Accra Highway in the Ashanti Region.

The crash involved a cargo truck transporting tomatoes, a passenger bus and a fuel tanker, which was empty at the time of the accident.

The exact cause of the collision is yet to be officially determined. However, eyewitnesses reported that a wrongful overtaking manoeuvre may have led to the head-on impact.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene to rescue trapped victims, while heavy traffic built up on the busy highway.

Shortly afterwards, a second accident occurred at Dadieso near Konongo, further raising concerns about road safety along the Kumasi-Accra route.
