60-YEAR-OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY DRAGGING SON WITH QUAD BIKE AT NORTH LEGON

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 60-year-old man, identified as Eric Mantey, for allegedly tying his 16-year-old son to a quad motorbike and dragging him along a tarred road at North Legon in Accra.

According to police, the incident happened near the Adonai Church area on May 3, 2026, after the teenager allegedly defied his father’s instructions and went out to play football with friends.

Investigations indicate that the suspect became angry, tied the boy to the quad bike, and drove off, dragging him on the road until residents intervened and stopped the act.

The victim sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Head of Public Affairs at the Police Headquarters, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, said the suspect admitted acting out of anger during interrogation.

Police have also urged parents and guardians to use lawful and non-violent methods in disciplining children and encouraged the public to report cases of child abuse.
