The Ashaiman District Court has remanded 32-year-old Atsu Kudiabor Issaka into police custody after he was charged with allegedly posing as a soldier and extorting money from members of the public.
Kudiabor was arraigned on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, after the Tema Regional Police Command charged him with falsely pretending to be a public officer, stealing and possessing a military camouflage uniform.
The court, presided over by His Honour Derick Parden Eshun, did not take his plea after the charges and facts were read to him by prosecutor Inspector Henry Tetteh Nartey.
He is expected to reappear on September 29, 2026.
According to the police, Kudiabor was arrested on September 16 at about 7 a.m. at an area known as “I Shall Return” in Ashaiman after he was allegedly found parading himself as a soldier and extorting money from residents.
He was initially apprehended by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service with assistance from members of the public before being handed over to the police.
A search on him reportedly led to the recovery of a set of military camouflage uniform, which police say was allegedly being used in connection with his activities.
Police had earlier disclosed that Kudiabor is an ex-convict.
The case has been adjourned to September 29 as investigations continue.
