Asene Manso Akroso District Celebrates National Day Of Prayer And Thanksgiving; DCE Urges Citizens On Responsible Land Acquisition And Revenue Generation

The Asene Manso Akroso District has successfully observed the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving with a call on residents to prioritize proper spatial planning and civic obligations to foster rapid development.

The solemn but vibrant event took place at the Akroso Central branch of The Church of Pentecost and brought together a diverse group of key stakeholders, including traditional and religious leaders, security agencies, assembly members, staff of the district assembly, students and educationists, who united to offer prayers for the growth, peace, and prosperity of the district and the nation.

LEAVE SPACES FOR ROADS TO PREVENT FUTURE DISASTERS.

Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Hon. Eric Ahinakwa, strongly appealed to his constituents regarding land acquisition and structural development.

He urged prospective landowners to ensure they set aside a portion of their land for access roads or buffer zones before building.

Hon. Ahinakwa emphasized that this proactive approach is essential to avoid dense congestion and prevent future flooding incidents. Referencing recent devastating flood events in Accra, the DCE described those occurrences as a “very sad moment” and stressed that the Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly (AMADA) wants to avoid similar urban planning errors.

”Before anyone builds, development must conform to planning regulations. Leaving accessible spaces for roads protects our neighborhoods and ensures emergency or relief services can reach everyone safely,” the DCE noted.

A CALL TO BOOST INTERNALLY GENERATED FUNDS (IGF)

In another key address, the DCE appealed to local traders and residents to consistently and honestly pay their regular dues and market tolls.

He explained that the Assembly heavily relies on Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to complement central government allocations.

According to Hon. Ahinakwa, a robust IGF collection is what directly enables the district to finance critical infrastructure setups, build better market facilities, and drive local developmental projects.

The religious and traditional leaders present took turns leading the congregation through sessions of thanksgiving, interceding for wisdom for national leaders and a peaceful environment for economic development.
