Asantehene Postpones Odwira Festival

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has announced the postponement of the Odwira Festival, which was initially scheduled for October 31, 2025. According to the Asantehene, the festival cannot be held without the Asantehemaa, and a successor to the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, must be enstooled and the necessary rites performed.

Reason for Postponement

The passing of Nana Konadu Yiadom III necessitates the enstoolment of a new Asantehemaa and the performance of traditional rites.

Asante tradition demands that a successor be enstooled and the requisite stool rites done at Wirempe before the festival can be held.

New Date

A new date for the festival will be communicated at the right time.

The Odwira Festival is a significant annual celebration in the Asante Kingdom, featuring traditional activities and rituals to purify the communities, people, and ancestral stools of traditional rulers.
