Apam Gets Modern ICT Centre as Government Advances Digital Skills Agenda

Residents of Apam in the Gomoa West Constituency now have access to a modern ICT and Digital Skills Centre following the commissioning of a newly renovated facility aimed at equipping young people with essential digital competencies.

The centre was commissioned by the Deputy Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Richard Gyan-Mensah.

The facility, which had been abandoned for several years, has been refurbished and transformed into a state-of-the-art training centre under the government’s One Million Coders (OMC) Programme, an initiative designed to provide Ghanaian youth with digital and technological skills to enhance employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

The centre has been equipped with modern computers and other digital learning resources to support training in information and communication technology, coding, and other technology-related fields.

Addressing participants during the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Gyan-Mensah underscored the importance of digital literacy in today’s technology-driven world. He stated that the project aligns with the government’s vision of empowering young people with the skills needed to compete in the global digital economy.

According to him, investing in digital education remains critical to addressing youth unemployment and preparing the next generation for the future of work.

Meanwhile, the Gomoa West District Chief Executive, Alhaji Mohammed Kassim, commended the government and the Member of Parliament for bringing the initiative to the district.

He described the centre as a significant investment in youth development and encouraged beneficiaries to take full advantage of the opportunities it offers.

Hon. Kassim also appealed to traditional authorities and residents of Apam to safeguard the facility and ensure its proper maintenance for future generations.

The ICT and Digital Skills Centre is expected to serve as a hub for technology training and innovation, helping young people in Gomoa West acquire skills that are increasingly in demand in the modern workforce.
