Alleged Fake Soldier Arrested at Kasoa for Attempting to Sell Weapons to Undercover Police

An alleged fake soldier, identified as Warrant Officer II Enoch Appiah, has been arrested at Kasoa in the Central Region for allegedly attempting to sell firearms to undercover police officers.

According to police reports, officers acted on intelligence indicating that Appiah was seeking buyers for assault rifles reportedly in his possession. Following the tip-off, a covert operation was launched to track and apprehend the suspect.

The suspect was eventually arrested at his hideout in an uncompleted building at the Nurses Quarters area of Domeabra, where he was said to be living with his three wives. Police officers tactically positioned themselves before effecting the arrest without incident.

A search conducted at the premises led to the discovery of two pistols — a Beretta and a Taurus — as well as three rounds of AK-47 assault rifle ammunition. Officers also retrieved a fake military identity card bearing the name “WO II Enoch Appiah” and several military uniforms.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect is not a serving member of the Ghana Armed Forces. Authorities are now working to establish how he obtained the firearms, ammunition, military uniforms, and the forged identification card, as well as whether he acted alone or in collaboration with others.

The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all persons found to be connected to the case will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The arrest has been widely commended as a major step in curbing the proliferation of illegal firearms and protecting public safety.
