Ahodwo Fuel Tanker Crash: Three Injured, 18 Vehicles Damaged in Kumasi

A major road traffic accident involving a fuel tanker has left three people injured and caused significant damage to multiple vehicles at Ahodwo, near Ridge Condos in Kumasi.
The incident occurred on April 16, 2026, and involved a fuel tanker, a Kia Morning, and a Hyundai Santa Fe. According to reports, all three drivers sustained injuries and were rescued by bystanders before being rushed to hospital for treatment. Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded, while the tanker driver’s mate escaped unharmed.
The impact of the crash was severe, leaving the Kia Morning extensively damaged. In addition, the tanker head, the Hyundai Santa Fe, and about 18 vehicles parked at a nearby auto sales garage suffered varying degrees of damage.
Emergency response teams, including firefighters and police officers, quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation. Given that the tanker was carrying approximately 54,000 litres of petrol, authorities prioritised preventing a potential fire outbreak.
Firefighters worked to cool the tanker and secure the area, while police officers controlled traffic, managed crowds, and prevented fuel siphoning. The tanker was later towed to safety after the situation was brought under control.
Authorities have since launched investigations to determine the cause of the crash.
