Afenyo-Markin Accuses NDC of Deception, Calls for NPP Unity Ahead of 2028 Elections

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has sharply criticised the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the party of deception and urging supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to remain united as they prepare for the 2028 general elections.
Speaking at a gathering of party sympathisers in Sefwi-Wiawso on Saturday, June 20, 2026, the Effutu MP rallied grassroots members, calling for cohesion, discipline, and renewed commitment within the party.
Afenyo-Markin questioned the performance of the governing NDC, arguing that the party had failed to deliver on the promises made to Ghanaians during the 2024 election campaign.
“We should ask ourselves, is the NDC delivering on its promises? The NDC is a complete scam. They are 419 people. They come to you and lie to you and when you give them power, they do nothing,” he said.
He warned that the NDC could only succeed if the NPP remains divided.
“But they can only achieve that if we ourselves are divided. So today, in Sefwi-Wiawso, I speak to the entire region on behalf of the flagbearer, on behalf of Parliament, on behalf of all the elders of the party and plead with you to unite,” Afenyo-Markin urged.
The Minority Leader emphasised the need for supporters to stay vigilant and actively engaged in political discussions at the community level, while critically assessing the performance of the current government.
