66 Artillery Regiment Donates Blood to Ho Teaching Hospital as Part of 60th Anniversary Celebrations

The 66 Artillery Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces, based at the Volta Barracks in Ho, has donated blood to the Ho Teaching Hospital (popularly known as Trafalgar) as part of activities marking its 60th anniversary.
The blood donation exercise took place on Wednesday, with personnel from the regiment turning out in large numbers to voluntarily donate. The initiative aims to replenish the hospital’s blood bank, which is critical for emergency cases, maternal care, and accident response.
Naval Lt. Francis Ekow Ayison, Head of Lab, 7mrs, noted that the gesture underscores the Regiment’s commitment not only to national security but also to humanitarian service and community engagement.
Phanuel Mordzifa, Regional Blood Manager at the Ho Teaching Hospital, expressed gratitude to the regiment for the timely support, describing it as a significant boost to the facility’s capacity to respond to urgent medical needs.
The blood donation is one of several activities lined up for the 60th anniversary celebrations. Other planned events include a clean-up exercise at the Ho Market, fun games, and a grand durbar to climax the commemorations.
Over the years, the 66 Artillery Regiment has played a vital role in maintaining peace, supporting civil authorities, and contributing to social causes within the Volta Region and beyond.
