37-Year-Old Woman Found Dead at Kasoa 95

A 37-year-old woman identified as Rukaya Alhassan has been found dead in her room at Kasoa 95 in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region, in an incident suspected to be suicide by hanging.
The incident was reportedly discovered by her 11-year-old daughter, who found her mother hanging from a ceiling fan with a piece of decorative fabric around her neck.
The distressed child raised an alarm, attracting neighbours and other residents who rushed to the room. They reportedly cut the woman down and attempted to save her, but she was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary information suggests that Rukaya may have been experiencing emotional distress before her death.
The Assembly Member for the Kasoa New Town Electoral Area and an uncle of the deceased, Abdul Wahab, said audio messages exchanged between Rukaya and her husband, who is reportedly based abroad, had been retrieved.
According to him, the recordings suggest that Rukaya had repeatedly appealed to her husband to return home and allegedly threatened to harm herself if he failed to do so.
Her husband reportedly responded by urging her not to take her life and reminding her of their young daughter.
However, concerns have been raised about the circumstances surrounding the death.
The Awutu Senya East Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Nash Nyandey, said observations at the scene had raised suspicions of possible foul play and called for a thorough investigation.
The police have taken custody of the body and commenced investigations to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
