The Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong has indefinitely suspended Rev. Fr. Samuel Adapore, citing what it describes as serious acts on the part of the priest.
The suspension took effect on Monday, August 24, 2026, according to a statement signed by the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. John Opoku-Agyemang.
Rev. Fr. Adapore, who served as Rector of St. Anthony of Padua Rectorate at Nkwantakese, has been barred from publicly administering the sacraments. This includes celebrating or concelebrating Mass and officiating at other liturgical services.
According to the Diocese, the decision was taken by the Bishop in consultation with the College of Consultors.
The Diocese said the suspension followed what it described as the priest’s unilateral decision to take a leave of absence from the Diocese and abandon his pastoral ministry without legitimate permission.
It cited Canon 533 §1 as the provision allegedly contravened by his actions.
The Diocese further alleged that Rev. Fr. Adapore removed all his personal belongings from the mission house at Nkwantakese without informing or seeking approval from the appropriate authorities.
It also stated that the priest had blocked all access to him, while his immediate family members reportedly told the Diocese that they did not know his whereabouts.
In the letter addressed to the clergy, consecrated men and women, and the faithful of the Diocese, Bishop Opoku-Agyemang described the decision as having been taken “with a heavy heart but a great sense of duty to Holy Mother Church.”
The Bishop also appealed to members of the Diocese to remember Rev. Fr. Samuel Adapore in their prayers as the matter unfolds.
