A 20-year-old man, Kwadwo Bright, was fatally stabbed in Ashanti New Town, within the Manhyia South constituency of the Ashanti Region, following a dispute over a plastic chair on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident began as a misunderstanding between Kwadwo Bright and the suspect during a game. The victim’s mother, Georgina Yeboah, told Citi Newsroom that the initial altercation appeared to have been resolved. However, the suspect allegedly returned later and stabbed Kwadwo in the neck, escalating the situation into a deadly confrontation. “I heard people screaming about a young man being stabbed and rushed to the scene, only to find my son in a critical state,” Yeboah recounted, devastated by the loss of her son.
Residents were alerted by screams as the situation spiraled, but despite efforts to save him, Kwadwo was rushed to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect fled the scene, and the Ghana Police Service has launched a full-scale investigation, with a manhunt underway to apprehend the perpetrator.
