Truck Ploughs into Shops at Nkroful Junction, Killing One and Injuring Others

Sekondi-Takoradi, Western Region – A tragic accident on Friday, December 27, 2025, claimed one life and left others injured when a Kia truck loaded with rubber veered off the Kansaworado Highway and crashed into three shops at Nkroful Junction, opposite Allied Filling Station.
The truck, traveling from Agona Nkwanta toward Accra, reportedly lost control after swerving to avoid a sudden lane change by another Kia truck ahead. The impact trapped two people in one of the structures.
One victim—a Form One student at Adiembra SHS who was assisting in a porridge shop to fund her education—was pronounced dead at the scene. The survivor was rushed to Fijai Hospital for treatment.
Local Assemblyman Abraham Yalley, who arrived shortly after, told Connect FM: “She was preparing porridge when the vehicle ran into her… We have rushed one person to Fijai Hospital whilst the other is dead.”
Police removed the body to the mortuary and are investigating the cause, with eyewitnesses citing the evasive maneuver as the trigger.
The incident disrupted traffic and commerce at the busy junction, highlighting persistent road safety concerns on the route. Authorities have appealed for caution amid heavy festive season travel.
