On Saturday, July 26, 2025, a staff member at China City, a shopping mall in Santasi, Kumasi, was fatally stabbed by a colleague following an altercation, the cause of which remains unclear.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred in the morning on the mall’s premises, prompting workers to raise an alarm. The victim was found in a pool of blood and was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Angry youth in Santasi gathered at the scene, firing warning shots and attempting to lynch the suspect, who was subsequently arrested by the police.
The Ghana Police Service is investigating, with crime scene experts collecting evidence to determine the motive and circumstances of this tragic event, amid growing concerns over rising violence in the Ashanti Region.
