Wontumi followed due process in securing Exim Bank loan – Haruna Mohammed

Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Haruna Mohammed, has defended Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako over criminal charges linked to an Exim Bank loan facility, insisting the NPP stalwart followed the proper procedures in obtaining the loan.

Speaking on Channel One TV, he argued that if there were irregularities in the approval process, responsibility should rest with the bank rather than the beneficiary.

Chairman Wontumi, together with Wontumi Farms Limited and another accused person reportedly at large, faces charges including defrauding by false pretence, money laundering, uttering forged documents, and causing financial loss to a public institution over an alleged GH¢14.3 million Exim Bank loan obtained in 2018 for a proposed large-scale farming project.
