Bawumia Warns NPP Delegates of Escalating Personal Attacks and Lies in Final Weeks of Flagbearer Race

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has issued a strong warning to New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates about a deliberate campaign of personal attacks and misinformation being orchestrated by his rivals in the final stretch of the flagbearer race.

In a passionate address to party supporters at Manso Adubia in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Bawumia revealed that intelligence gathered by his team indicates some opponents are preparing to intensify personal assaults and spread falsehoods in the coming days.

“With just two weeks remaining until the primary, we are going to hear a lot of lies,” Bawumia told the crowd. “My opponents are attempting to distract you from the real issues by resorting to insults. But I urge you all to stay focused on the bigger picture — the vision for our party and our country.”

The former Vice President made it clear that the flagbearer contest should be fought on ideas, policies, and leadership qualities rather than descending into a battle of personal insults. He described such tactics as a sign of desperation, noting that those engaging in negativity are failing to offer substantial solutions and are instead trying to tear down their rivals to win votes.

“If you miss the ball, don’t miss the man,” Bawumia said, implying that his opponents are targeting him personally because they cannot match his track record and policy proposals.

Despite the growing pressure and smears, Bawumia expressed unwavering confidence and assured delegates that his campaign remains firmly focused on a positive agenda.

“I am focused on victory,” he declared. “I have no time for insults. I have no time for distractions. We are here to win, and we will win by sticking to the issues that matter.”

Bawumia urged delegates to remain vigilant and vote for a candidate who embodies competence, vision, and a proven track record.

“Don’t be swayed by lies,” he appealed. “Go out there and vote for me, because I am the candidate who will lead this party to victory in 2028.”

The speech comes at a critical juncture in the NPP’s flagbearer race, with the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026. As the contest enters its final phase, Bawumia’s message emphasizes unity, focus on substance, and resilience in the face of negative campaigning.
