Woman in Ada Reportedly Dies After Replacing Water with Sobolo Due to Religious Belief

Residents of Ada are in shock following the reported death of a woman who allegedly stopped drinking water entirely and consumed large quantities of sobolo (a popular hibiscus-based local drink) in its place, believing it represented the blood of Jesus.

According to accounts from the community, the deceased held a strong personal conviction that sobolo was a spiritual substitute for water. She reportedly consumed the drink excessively on a daily basis, leading to a deterioration in her health.

She was eventually taken to a health facility, where medical personnel identified dangerously high levels of substances associated with the drink in her system. Despite receiving treatment, she passed away shortly after.

The incident has sparked concern and debate among residents, with many questioning the risks of allowing personal or religious beliefs to override basic health requirements such as proper hydration.

Health professionals have reiterated the importance of drinking sufficient water daily and advised moderation in the consumption of all beverages, including sobolo. They stressed that no drink can fully replace the essential role of water in maintaining bodily functions and overall health.

This tragic case serves as a reminder of the potential dangers when extreme beliefs lead to the neglect of fundamental physiological needs.

Our thoughts are with the family and the community during this difficult time.
