Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has boldly declared herself the likely winner of the coveted Artist of the Year award at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
In a post shared on X on April 9, the singer expressed strong confidence in clinching the top prize, pointing to what she described as overwhelming support from fans, the media, and fellow musicians. She also extended appreciation to her loyal fanbase, popularly known as ShayGang, for their unwavering support.
Wendy Shay further called on supporters of some of Ghana’s biggest music stars, including Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie, to throw their weight behind her campaign through voting, underscoring the fierce competition in the category.
Beyond the awards, the singer revealed ambitious plans for the year, announcing her intention to become the first female artist to headline and fill the Accra Sports Stadium—a feat that would mark a significant milestone in Ghana’s live music industry.
The 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards is scheduled for May 9 under the theme “For The People. For The Culture. For The Music,” and is expected to gather top figures in the country’s music scene.
