Vehicle Prices Drop by 15% Nationwide – Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana

The Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana has announced a 15% reduction in the prices of vehicles across the country.
The price cut, effective immediately, applies to both new and used vehicles sold by member dealerships nationwide.
According to the Union, the reduction is driven by two key factors:
Exchange rate stability: The Ghana cedi has remained relatively steady against major currencies in recent months, reducing the cost of importing vehicles and spare parts.
Abolition of the COVID-19 levy: The removal of this additional tax burden on imported goods has further lowered landed costs for dealers.
A statement from the Union described the move as a direct benefit to consumers following improvements in macroeconomic conditions.
“This price adjustment reflects the current realities in the forex market and the relief from the COVID-19 levy. We are passing on these gains to our customers to make vehicle ownership more affordable,” the Union said.
The announcement has been welcomed by car buyers and industry observers, especially after several years of sharp price increases due to currency depreciation, high import duties and global supply chain disruptions.
Dealerships across Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and other major cities are expected to update their price lists accordingly in the coming days.
Customers are advised to confirm the new pricing directly with accredited dealers under the Union to take advantage of the reduction.

This development comes amid broader economic stabilisation signals in early 2026, including declining inflation and improved forex inflows
