Two Women Arrested for Brutally Assaulting 12-Year-Old Girl in Accra

Police in Accra have arrested two women for allegedly attacking a 12-year-old girl in the La Roman JHS School area on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
The victim’s mother reported the case to police after noticing visible marks of assault on her daughter. She claimed three women beat the girl without any reason.
According to a statement from the Greater Accra Police Public Affairs Head, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, investigations revealed the incident started with a minor argument earlier that day between the girl and a 7-year-old boy named Horm Giftan Mesopeh, who is related to the suspects.
The women later went to the victim’s home, took her to their house, and allegedly assaulted her there.
On Wednesday, December 31, police arrested two of the suspects:
- Precious Giftan Mesopeh, 22
- Princess Giftan Mesopeh, 25

They have been formally charged and are in custody. The two are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The third suspect, 49-year-old fashion designer Priscilla Novishie Wornyo—the mother of the arrested women—has reportedly fled to the Volta Region. Police are actively searching for her.
The Accra Regional Police Command strongly warned against using violence to settle disputes, especially when children are involved. They urged parents, guardians, and the public to always use lawful ways to resolve issues and to protect children’s rights and safety at all times.
The case has raised concerns about child protection, with calls for swift justice for the young victim.
