Two UDS Students Among Three Arrested Over Armed Robbery

Three suspects, including two Level 400 students of the University for Development Studies (UDS), have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery incident.
The suspects have been identified as Peter Abugri (24), Asuma Shaini (22), and Yakubu Wakasu (19). Two of them are reported to be students from the Nyankpala and Dungu campuses of UDS.
According to police, a search conducted at the suspects’ hostels led to the recovery of a pistol, a jackknife, machetes, an iPhone 17 valued at GH₵21,000, and a Haojue motorbike worth GH₵19,000.
The arrest follows a report by a victim at a checkpoint along the Bolga–Nasia road. The victim told police he was attacked while relieving himself in nearby bushes when the three suspects, armed with a pistol and a knife, robbed him of his iPhone 17 Pro and motorbike.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be processed for court.
The incident has raised concerns about rising criminal activity involving young people, including students, prompting calls for increased vigilance and security measures.
