The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery attack at Gomoa Dominase that resulted in the death of a 30-year-old mobile money vendor.
The robbery occurred on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at a mobile money vending point in the community.
According to the Police, investigations made a breakthrough after an iPhone 13 Pro belonging to the deceased was detected as having been activated.
Police intelligence led to the arrest of Isaac Baffoe, alias Kwame Cheddo, at Kwesimintsim in Takoradi on June 26.
A search reportedly led to the recovery of the stolen iPhone, which had allegedly been concealed in an iPhone 17 safety case along with other accessories.
During interrogation, Baffoe allegedly led investigators to Prince Tawiah Baidoo, a phone technician at Kwesimintsim.
Police said Baidoo admitted replacing the stolen phone’s motherboard, Face ID component and camera sensors for GH¢2,650.
A search of his residence subsequently resulted in the recovery of the original components removed from the deceased’s phone.
The two suspects have been arraigned before the Ofaakor Circuit Court and remain in custody as investigations continue.
The Police have retained the recovered phone and its original and refurbished components as exhibits.
Meanwhile, investigators are working to identify and arrest other members of the alleged robbery gang and anyone involved in handling the stolen phone.
The Police are appealing to the public to provide credible information that could assist the investigation. Information can be reported through 191 or 18555, or at the nearest police station.
