Clergy Urged to Condemn LGBTQ+ Activities and Promote National Unity

Apostle Yaw Ntiamoah Manu, District Head Pastor of the African Faith Tabernacle Church at Assin Awisam, has called on Ghanaian clergy to use their pulpits to openly condemn LGBTQ+ activities and promote moral values within society.

Speaking during a ceremony marking his 13 years of pastoral service at Assin Awisam, Apostle Manu urged pastors, ministry founders, preachers, and evangelists across the country to provide strong moral leadership on issues affecting national and spiritual development.

According to him, religious institutions have a responsibility to educate their congregations on what he described as the spiritual, social, and psychological consequences associated with LGBTQ+ practices.

He stressed that consistent moral education within churches would help guide members away from behaviours that conflict with the beliefs and values upheld by many faith communities in Ghana.

Apostle Manu also referenced ongoing parliamentary efforts to address LGBTQ+ issues through legislation. He called on the President to assent to the anti-LGBTQ+ bill immediately once it is passed by Parliament.

He maintained that the matter requires decisive leadership and swift action from both religious and political authorities.

The Apostle further appealed to clergy members to desist from misconduct and avoid discriminatory practices within the Christian community.

He expressed concern over divisions among churches and denominations, arguing that disunity among Christians weakens national development efforts and undermines the collective influence of the church.

According to him, collaboration, unity, and mutual respect among religious bodies are essential to promoting peace and development in the country.

The remarks formed part of activities commemorating Apostle Yaw Ntiamoah Manu’s 13 years of dedicated ministry and leadership at the African Faith Tabernacle Church in Assin Awisam.

Members of the congregation also used the occasion to express appreciation for his years of service, describing him as humble, dedicated, and committed to spiritual guidance and community development.
