Truck Driver Shot, Assistant Injured in Suspected Highway Robbery on Bibiani–Goaso Road

A truck driver has been shot and his assistant injured following a suspected highway robbery attack on the Bibiani–Goaso road.
The victim, 60-year-old Mohammed Yakubu, was travelling with his mate in a Mitsubishi cargo truck from Akodie to Kumasi when they came under attack at Kwame Dwuma Sereso.
According to reports, a group of armed men mounted a blockade along the stretch before opening fire on the oncoming vehicle.
Mr. Yakubu sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, while his assistant also suffered injuries during the нападение.
Despite the violent encounter, both men survived and are currently receiving medical attention.
The incident is being treated as a suspected highway robbery, with the Ghana Police Service expected to launch investigations to track down the perpetrators.
The attack adds to growing concerns about safety on major highways, particularly in areas prone to robbery incidents.
