Tragic Fire at Dansoman Market Kills 8-Year-Old Girl and Destroys Shops

A big fire broke out overnight at Dansoman Market in Accra. It has killed an 8-year-old girl and burned down many shops and wooden stalls. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) gave this report.
The fire started just after midnight. It was reported at 12:02 a.m. Firefighters from Dansoman station got there two minutes later. But the flames were spreading fast.
The first team saw how big the fire was. They called for help right away. Eight more fire trucks came from places like Industrial Area, Ministries, National Headquarters, Madina, Weija, Anyaa, and Accra City. Two water tankers from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly also joined to fight the fire.
Firefighters attacked the blaze from many sides. They worked hard to stop it from spreading to the whole market. The GNFS said the fire was contained by 1:51 a.m. It was under control by 3:03 a.m. They kept checking for hidden fires and fully put it out by 5:21 a.m.
Sadly, the girl was trapped inside one of the shops. Firefighters could not save her in time. Her burned body was given to the police for safekeeping and checks.
No one knows yet what caused the fire. GNFS investigators are looking into it now.
Many wooden stalls and market shops are gone. But firefighters saved some nearby shops and their goods from the fire.
The market area is now safe and guarded. Officials are still checking how much damage there is. More news will come as the probe goes on.
