Teenager Narrates Horrific Ordeal in Viral Video Case: “They Dragged Me from Hostel, Beat Me, Forced Me to Have Sex by Roadside”

The 17-year-old boy at the centre of the shocking viral video involving Effiakuma West Assembly Member Edward Senam Azalekor has broken his silence, giving a chilling account of how he was allegedly abducted from his hostel, assaulted, and forced to have sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in public view.
In an emotional interview with Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson on Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show, the teenager recounted the terrifying events that unfolded in the early hours of February 17, 2026.
According to him, around 1 a.m. that night, Assemblyman Azalekor arrived at his hostel with three other individuals and the young girl, claiming she was his girlfriend. They forcibly took him into their vehicle and drove to a vulcanizing shop near Effia Cocoa Villa.
“The girl’s mother was already there when we arrived,” he said. “The Assembly Member first told me to sleep with the girl’s mother. When I refused, he went into his vehicle, brought out a belt, and started beating both me and the girl.”
The victim described how the situation quickly escalated into public humiliation:
“He asked me to sleep with the girl right there beside the roadside where the vulcanizing shop is located. People passing by were watching while we were being forced to have an affair, and others stood by recording videos with their phones.”
He added that the shame was overwhelming: “I could not tell my friends what had happened out of shame.”
A colleague of the victim, Joseph Idun, confirmed that hostel mates tried to follow the vehicle but lacked transport and were unable to intervene. The teenager returned to the hostel hours later but remained silent until the video began circulating online.
The victim’s father, Yaw Agyemang, said he only learned of the incident after someone showed him the footage:
“I was at home when someone approached me with a video of my son being forced to have an affair with a girl. I immediately called my son to ask why he had not informed me.”
Mr. Agyemang contacted his son’s teacher, who claimed ignorance but promised to investigate. Frustrated by the lack of immediate action from the school, he considered reporting the matter to police himself but was asked to wait.
The Western Regional Police Command has since confirmed the arrest of Edward Azalekor, 52, the Assembly Member for Effiakuma West, and Martin Amuzu, 35, uncle to the female victim. Both were arrested on Thursday, February 26, at Effiakuma following widespread circulation of the video.
The suspects appeared before the Harbor District Court in Takoradi on Friday, February 27, where they were granted bail of GH¢20,000 each with one surety and are to reappear on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
The 13-year-old female victim is currently in protective custody with the Department of Social Welfare. Police are still searching for Isaac Nana Osei, who allegedly filmed the incident and is on the run.
The case has provoked widespread outrage across Ghana, with child rights groups, gender activists, and civil society organisations condemning the incident as a gross violation of the rights and dignity of minors. Many have called for swift justice, the immediate removal of Azalekor from his position as Assembly Member, and stronger community safeguards against child abuse and exploitation.
The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to thorough investigation and prosecution, urging anyone with additional information or footage to come forward.
The incident has once again spotlighted the dangers faced by young people in communities where power imbalances, vigilantism, and lack of oversight can lead to grave human rights abuses.
