The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has announced that Saturday, 3 October 2026, is National Sanitation Day in the Metropolis.
According to a public announcement dated 25 September 2026, the Assembly will organise a general clean-up exercise from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The general public is encouraged to participate by desilting choked gutters, weeding bushy areas, and sweeping and clearing refuse from public spaces to keep the Metropolis clean and help reduce sanitation-related diseases.
The STMA urges Assembly members, traditional authorities, religious leaders, companies and organised groups to lead their community members, followers and/or staff in cleaning their immediate surroundings.
Vehicular movements and trading activities will be restricted during the exercise, and all are expected to comply.
