Shatta Wale Donates $100,000 to Black Stars World Cup Fund – Joins Stonebwoy in Massive Support for Ghana’s 2026 Campaign

Star-Studded Fundraising Event at Kempinski Hotel Sees Musicians and Corporates Rally Behind Black Stars Ahead of USA, Canada & Mexico Tournament

Ghanaian dancehall superstar Shatta Wale has made a generous donation of $100,000 to the Black Stars World Cup Fund, bolstering the national effort to prepare Ghana’s senior men’s football team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The announcement came during a high-profile fundraising gala held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra on Friday night, March 20, 2026. The event brought together celebrities, business leaders, corporate sponsors, and football enthusiasts in a show of unity and patriotism for the Black Stars’ quest to shine on the global stage in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Shatta Wale’s contribution adds significant momentum to the fundraising drive, which aims to cover key expenses such as transporting Ghanaian supporters to matches, ensuring a vibrant and vocal fan presence to lift the team throughout the tournament.

Stonebwoy Sets the Pace Earlier This Week

The donation follows closely on the heels of fellow reggae-dancehall icon Stonebwoy, who earlier this week pledged $101,000 to the same fund. Stonebwoy’s package included $81,000 in cash plus $20,000 worth of music production and promotional services to amplify the World Cup campaign.

Together, the two artists — often seen as rivals in the Ghanaian music scene — have demonstrated remarkable solidarity in supporting the national team, inspiring many fans and fellow celebrities to contribute.

Government Backs Broadcast Access

President John Dramani Mahama, who officially launched the Black Stars World Cup fundraising campaign, used the occasion to announce additional government support. He confirmed that the state would assist local television stations in securing the broadcast rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This move ensures that Ghanaians at home and in the diaspora can follow the Black Stars’ matches live, regardless of location, fostering nationwide engagement and pride during the tournament.

The 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, will be the biggest edition in history with 48 participating teams. Ghana, currently competing in the African qualifiers, is pushing hard to secure one of the continent’s coveted slots.

The fundraising initiative reflects a collective national determination to give the Black Stars every possible advantage — from logistical support for fans to enhanced visibility and morale.

Shatta Wale’s $100,000 pledge has been widely praised on social media, with fans hailing it as a powerful example of how Ghanaian celebrities can use their platforms to uplift the nation during major sporting moments.

More donations and announcements are expected in the coming weeks as the campaign intensifies and the qualifiers progress.
