Self-Styled Preacher Remanded for Allegedly Defiling Minor and Uploading Abuse to Porn Sites

A man who presented himself as a preacher and international marriage counsellor has been remanded into custody after his arrest for the alleged sexual abuse of a minor and the distribution of explicit recordings on pornographic websites.

The suspect, identified as Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Conduah, was apprehended in the early hours of Friday, March 6, 2026, during a joint operation by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and the Ghana Police Service.

Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George announced the arrest in a Facebook post on Sunday, March 8, highlighting the timing as the nation prepared to mark Ghana’s 69th Independence Day anniversary.

“In the early hours of 6th March, as the Nation prepared to celebrate our 69th Independence Day, the hardworking team at the Cyber Security Authority Ghana effected the arrest of one Rev Dr Ebenezer Conduah in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service,” the minister stated.

According to the minister, preliminary investigations revealed that the alleged abuse targeted a 17-year-old minor and had reportedly continued for about four years. The suspect, who operated publicly as a radio-based marriage counsellor, is facing charges related to child sexual abuse material under Sections 62 and 63 of the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038).

Further probes by the Cyber Security Authority uncovered multiple recordings and online postings allegedly uploaded by the suspect to various international pornographic platforms.

The arrest forms part of intensified efforts by Ghanaian authorities to combat online sexual exploitation and the dissemination of child sexual abuse material. The case has drawn widespread condemnation, with calls for swift justice and stronger protections for vulnerable children.

The suspect has since been remanded by the court as investigations continue. Authorities have not released additional details on the identity of the victim or the specific platforms involved, citing the sensitivity of the matter and ongoing legal processes.
