The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has announced that Saturday, September 12, 2026, is National Sanitation Day in the Metropolis.
In a public announcement dated September 7, 2026, the Assembly stated that a clean-up exercise will be held from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The general public is encouraged to participate by desilting choked gutters, weeding bushy areas, and sweeping and clearing refuse from public spaces to ensure cleanliness and reduce sanitation-related diseases.
The STMA urged Assembly members, traditional authorities, religious leaders, companies and organised groups to lead their community members, followers and staff in cleaning their immediate surroundings.
Vehicular movements and trading activities will be restricted during the exercise.
The Assembly counted on the cooperation of all stakeholders for a cleaner and healthier Metropolis.
