Sector Minister Assures Fair, Transparent Recruitment at Ghana Prisons Service Training School

Sector Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has assured applicants at the Ghana Prisons Service Training School screening centre in Accra of a fair, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process.
The Minister inspected the facility on Tuesday, January 21, 2026, as part of the Ministry’s supervisory role. He observed the ongoing screening exercise and interacted with both applicants and officials overseeing the process.
Addressing the applicants, Hon. Muntaka emphasized that the recruitment strictly follows laid-down procedures and urged everyone to go through the approved channels without attempting to cut corners.
He cautioned against deception by fraudulent middlemen who offer false assurances of assistance in exchange for money, warning that individuals found engaging in such acts would be arrested and prosecuted.
The Minister explained that a centralized and systematic payment system has been put in place to enable applicants to track their payments and receipts, thereby reducing the risk of fraud.
To safeguard the integrity of the process, he disclosed that monitoring mechanisms have been deployed, including oversight by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID), the National Signals Bureau, and other relevant security agencies.
Hon. Muntaka commended the Commander and officers in charge of the screening centre for effective planning and smooth execution of the exercise. He also praised the discipline and comportment of the applicants.
He encouraged all security agencies under the Ministry to learn from one another and adopt best practices in recruitment and personnel management.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that recruitment into the Ghana Prisons Service remains professional, credible, and free from any form of malpractice.
