Samuel Boadu Criticizes Officiating Despite Berekum Chelsea’s Dramatic Win Over Medeama
Berekum Chelsea head coach Samuel Boadu has openly criticized officiating in his team’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Medeama in the Ghana Premier League, stating he is prepared to face sanctions from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for his remarks.
The Bibires ended the first half of the league campaign on a high note at the Golden City Park on Sunday, securing a last gasp win against the Yellow and Mauve. Despite the victory, Boadu expressed dissatisfaction with referee Mawuli Klu and his assistants.
“I’m satisfied with the three maximum points, but the officiating was really bad. I don’t usually complain about officiating, but this time, I am. The FA can sanction me; I don’t mind,” Boadu stated after the game.
He further questioned the quality of officiating, asking, “We all talk about the beauty of the game, but how can football be beautiful with this kind of officiating? If this continues, it will collapse Ghana football.”
The match was action-packed, with Berekum Chelsea taking the lead just before halftime through a well-executed goal by experienced forward Stephen Amankona. Medeama responded late in the second half, equalizing in the 89th minute when Mubarik Yussif converted a penalty.
However, in a stunning climax, Zakaria Fuseini secured the win for Chelsea with a 90+9-minute strike, sparking celebrations among the home crowd.
Berekum Chelsea concluded the first half of the Premier League season in 10th place with 22 points, setting the stage for an intense second half of the campaign.
