Sachet Water Prices to Increase from April 6 – NASPAWAP Cites Global Polymer Shortage and Iran Conflict

The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has announced an upward revision of sachet water prices, effective Monday, April 6, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday, April 2, the association attributed the price adjustment to the global shortage of polymers (key raw materials for plastic production) and rising costs triggered by the ongoing conflict in Iran, which has disrupted supply chains and increased production expenses.
“The rising costs have made it challenging for manufacturers to maintain current prices,” NASPAWAP said.
New Recommended Prices (per bag of 30 sachets of 500ml)
- Ex-factory: GH¢8
- Ex-truck: GH¢10
- Maximum retail: GH¢15
The association urged retailers and consumers to adhere to the new prices to ensure fair trade practices and sustainability in the industry.
“This adjustment is necessary to sustain production and ensure the continuous supply of safe drinking water,” the statement added.
Sachet water remains one of the most widely consumed packaged beverages in Ghana, especially in urban and peri-urban areas. The price increase is expected to have a direct impact on households and small vendors.
NASPAWAP assured the public that the revision was carefully considered and is aimed at preventing shortages while maintaining quality standards.
