Residents of Agona Abodom Raise Alarm Over Dangerous Streetlight Poles

Residents of Agona Abodom in the Agona West Municipality have raised serious concerns over what they describe as a life-threatening situation in their community, following the deterioration of several streetlight poles that are on the verge of collapse.

According to the youth of the area, the affected light poles have remained in a weakened and dangerous state for a long period, yet no concrete steps have been taken to replace or repair them.

Speaking to a resident, he explained that the situation poses a major risk to both pedestrians and motorists, especially during rainy or windy conditions, when the poles could easily fall.

“The problem has been here for a long time. These poles are very weak and can collapse at any moment, but nothing has been done about it,” he said.

The youth are therefore appealing to the government, the Agona West Municipal Assembly, and relevant authorities, particularly the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), to urgently intervene by replacing the damaged light poles to prevent possible injuries or loss of life.

Residents say timely action will not only improve safety but also restore confidence in public infrastructure within the community.
