Real Madrid Part Ways with Manager Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid have officially announced the departure of head coach Xabi Alonso, with the club confirming that the decision takes immediate effect.
In a statement released on Monday, the Spanish giants said the separation was reached by mutual agreement.
“Real Madrid CF announces that, by mutual agreement between the club and Xabi Alonso, it has been decided to end his time as first team coach,” the statement read.
Alonso was appointed manager in June 2025, taking over from Carlo Ancelotti, who left the club to assume the role of head coach of the Brazilian national team. His appointment was widely welcomed, given his strong tactical reputation and deep connection to the club as a former player.
However, despite early signs of promise, the 44-year-old struggled to maintain consistency. Recent weeks proved particularly challenging, with a series of injuries, disappointing results, and reported dressing-room unrest undermining the team’s performances.
While Alonso sought to implement a long-term vision at the Santiago Bernabéu, the mounting pressures and expectations at the club ultimately led to an early end to his tenure.
Real Madrid are yet to announce an interim or permanent replacement, but the club is expected to move swiftly to stabilise the squad as the season progresses.
