Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has dismissed reports suggesting he has resigned from his position following the Black Stars’ exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has dismissed reports suggesting he has resigned from his position following the Black Stars’ exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speculation over the Portuguese tactician’s future intensified after he shared an emotional message on his official Instagram account following Ghana’s 1-0 Round of 32 defeat to Colombia.

The post, in which Queiroz expressed gratitude to the Ghanaian people, his players and the Ghana Football Association for their support throughout the tournament, was widely interpreted by several local and international media outlets as a farewell message.

However, Queiroz has now clarified that he remains Ghana’s head coach.

Speaking during an unexpected conversation with a football fan from the United States, the 73-year-old firmly dismissed the resignation claims.

“I’ve not resigned. I was just sending my message of gratitude,” Queiroz said.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United manager stressed that his social media message was simply an appreciation to Ghanaians after the team’s World Cup campaign and should not have been viewed as an announcement of his departure.

Queiroz also confirmed that he has not submitted any resignation or official communication to the Ghana Football Association regarding his future.
