Public Sector Workers Risk Salary Suspension if Ghana Card Not Verified on e-Payslip by March 15

Public sector employees who fail to verify their Ghana Card details on the newly upgraded e-Payslip platform by March 15, 2026, face suspension of their salaries, the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has warned.
In a circular dated February 11, 2026, the Controller explained that the recent introduction of the enhanced e-Payslip system revealed widespread data discrepancies in the government payroll.
The inconsistencies mainly involve National Identification Authority (NIA) numbers recorded on the payroll that do not match official records held by the NIA.
These mismatches, the CAGD stated, threaten the integrity of the mechanised payroll system and must be corrected urgently.
All Covered Entities — public institutions on the government payroll — have been directed to immediately instruct their Human Resource Departments to:
Reconcile employee records
Ensure every staff member is accurately linked to their verified biometric Ghana Card identity
Affected institutions include:
Ghana Education Service
Ghana Health Service
Judicial Service of Ghana
Ghana Prisons Service
Ghana Immigration Service
Ghana National Fire Service
Electoral Commission of Ghana
Ghana Audit Service
And other covered public sector entities
The directive follows earlier payroll cleaning exercises, including the suspension of salaries for 2,563 workers who failed to participate in the 2025 nationwide headcount.
The CAGD stressed that timely verification is mandatory to prevent salary disruptions and maintain payroll accuracy.
Employees are advised to use the e-Payslip platform promptly or contact their HR departments for assistance before the March 15 deadline.
Failure to comply will result in salaries being withheld until the Ghana Card linkage is verified and approved.
