President Mahama Nominates and Reassigns Ministers of State

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted the names of two Members of Parliament to Parliament for prior approval as Ministers of State, while also reassigning two existing ministers to new portfolios.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 7, 2026, by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President, acting in accordance with Article 78(1) of the Constitution, nominated:
Dr Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, MP, as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology
Mahama Ayariga, MP, as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs
The President also reassigned the following ministers:
Hon Kenneth Gilbert Adjei to the Ministry of Defence
Ahmed Ibrahim, MP, to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources

The nominations have been submitted through the Speaker of Parliament for the necessary parliamentary approval processes.
