POLICE WARN CONTENT CREATORS AGAINST CRIMINAL ACTS DISGUISED AS ONLINE CONTENT

The Ghana Police Service has issued a strong warning to social media content creators engaging in acts that border on criminality, stressing that anyone found violating the law online will be arrested and prosecuted.

Speaking at a press briefing, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Grace Ansah Akrofi revealed that at least one individual has already been arrested after posting a masked video threatening to kill police officers and soldiers.

According to the Police, the suspect later claimed the video was only meant for content creation and even issued an apology online, but authorities insist such actions will not be tolerated.

“If you engage in any act, behaviour, or conduct that borders on criminality, the Ghana Police Service will fish you out, pursue you, arrest you, and bring you to face the full rigours of the law,” DCOP Ansah Akrofi warned.

She also disclosed that police had previously arrested individuals who dressed as bandits and posted threatening videos online.

The Police Service says it has intensified digital surveillance and online patrols to combat misinformation, panic, and criminal threats on social media.

Authorities are urging content creators and social media users to act responsibly and avoid content that could threaten public safety or violate the law.
