Police Officer Dies by Suicide at Duayaw-Nkwanta Station in Ahafo Region

A 40-year-old officer of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), identified as Sergeant Brown, has tragically died by suicide after allegedly shooting himself at the Duayaw-Nkwanta charge office in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region.
The incident, which occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, has left the local community in shock.
According to sources, Sergeant Brown, a married father of two, used his service weapon while on duty at the station.
The motive behind his actions remains unknown, and the Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
The officer’s body has been transferred to St. John of God Hospital in Duayaw-Nkwanta for autopsy and preservation.
The incident has sparked widespread concern among residents and colleagues, with no official statement yet released by the police administration beyond confirmation of the ongoing investigation.
