Police Arrest Suspect Over Viral Video Causing Fear and Panic

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 22-year-old man, Evans Puplampu, in connection with a viral video that sparked fear and panic among the public.
The suspect was picked up on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Ashaiman Community 22 following intelligence-led operations and surveillance by police.
The widely circulated video showed the suspect with his face covered, posing as a bandit with the caption: “We are starting from Ghana churches.” The post quickly gained traction on TikTok, triggering widespread concern among citizens.
During interrogation, Puplampu admitted to being the individual in the الفيديو, explaining that he imitated a trending social media pose for fun and did not intend to cause harm or panic.
Police also retrieved a Samsung Galaxy A15, which was allegedly used to record and share the video. The device has been retained as evidence.
The suspect remains in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be arraigned before court to face charges.
Authorities have cautioned the public against creating or sharing content that could incite fear or threaten public safety.
